Karla-Kai (KK) Stanley (She/Her)
BPsychSc, MSW (Q), GradCertFamilyTher, MAASW (Acc), AMHSW.
KK is a senior accredited mental health social worker who has worked within hospital settings, private practice, community services, tertiary mental health, and is a co-founder of Holding Compassion. With 8 years of experience in the field, KK has developed expertise in a range of mental health presentations within individuals, as well as interpersonal concerns of couples and families.
KK is an astute clinician who uses a systemic lens to guide her practice and is skilled in navigating the nuances and complexities of her clients needs. Her therapeutic style is collaborative, compassionate and transparent. Her systemic training means she is able to call upon multiple evidenced based resources to support her clients engage with meaningful and adaptive change.
She uses a variety of therapeutic modalities to assist her clients achieve their goals, primarily cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical-behaviour therapy (DBT). Ultimately focusing on person-led therapy; allowing space for collaborative solutions and the optimisation of resources to support people to make their own positive and self-directed change.
Educated with a Master of Social Work from Deakin University, a Bachelor of Psychological Science from The University of New England and a Graduate Certificate of Family Therapy through Bouverie Centre / La Trobe University.
KK is an accredited Medicare focused psychological strategies provider. KK is accepting supervisees, couples, families and individuals aged 16 years and above.
